Posted in Uncategorized on August 13, 2008 by Double-Dee

Just watched the Olympic Time Trial live on NBC.com  Christine Thorburne was a flopping pony tail away from a Bronze medal-  Yup… that pony tail and that ancient helmet=  4+ seconds over 23km.  Close.

Well,  for the girls in Green Saturday was the big dance.  Not the best course in the world-  two “climbs” with no chance of a break being allowed to get away-  it was run what ya brung and pray for sprinters legs by the finish.  In the U23 race Amy Dombro brought home her second bronze… Nicely done, as am I.  Stick a fork in me the season is ovah!  here are some pics for ya viewin plezzuh-

Dombro-  wants another lap!

A sand eye view of Mooch and Jono-  After the Crit a few of us went to Newport beach to check out the waves and chilax for a bit.  A little swimming, frisbee and small child decapatation and it was back to business.

Rebecca Much U23 Time Trial National Champ

Posted in Uncategorized on August 6, 2008 by Double-Dee

Mooch rocks the U23 house and takes the Stars and Bars-  Dombrowski kills it and rounds out the Podium with Bronze!!!!!

KCM with a 5th in the Elite Time Trial today.  Janel took a 9th place finish… not too shabby for the 1st year pro!

KCM happy with the 5th… or just happy to be done with Podium presentations???

Run what yeah brung…The “tt”bike that won the U23 Natz…  Not what you expected?  Of course not.  USA cycling never shipped Rebecca’s TT bike in time for the TT (eventhough they promised they would-  they handled getting her bike back from Europe).  So I cobbed this “tt” bike together for her from borrowed bike parts and her road frame (aero bar , shifters, brakes, stem set up from rock and road bikes-  thanks guys!) and a borrowed tt helmet from Garmin-Slipstream.  I threw on a disk and deep v front-at 11:30 the night before- the bike was ready but untested-  it’s first ride?  the TT-  looks like we got the position down, no?

Mooch with Aaron’s team super cutie Carmen Mcnellis

Dombro in Bronze….

Just in case you were wondering how we do it in the Pro ranks-  this is the chain and cog set of Janel’s bike.  No it is not new-  this is how clean the drive trains are before every race.  I take good care of my girls-  they deserve the best.

Getting things ready for a day of tt racing in Mark and Lisette’s garage-  they are going to have to evict me!  The open garage door is the backdoor that leads to the wash area…. Sweeeeeet!

Off to bed-  5am tomorrow.  Racing is early.  U23 National Criterium championships in Anaheim at 9

wish us luck

Vargarda World Cup- Sweden

Posted in Uncategorized on August 5, 2008 by Double-Dee

So-  After six days of racing in the Germany we loaded up the family truckster and headed to the Sweden.  We drove 4 hours and then crashed for the night-  Woke up and took a 2hr ferry to Denmark and then drove another 5+ hours to one of the nicest, cleanest places I have ever been.  The swede’s may serve fish for breakfast and give you tiny tubes that resemble toothpaste, filled with Caviar, but you have to give big props to a country that contains only two ugly people.  The Swede’s are hot! and…..  they all ride bikes.  Sweden is a very bike friendly place.  We had some good weather, but the day before the race while I was prepping- I got caught in a rainstorm of biblical proportion-  with all of the equipment-  it looked like I went swimming in my clothes.  My vans are still wet.

The world cup went well and Erinne was able to make a move and stay away with a very, very fast group.  She ended up with a 5th on the day!!!!  nicely done and good prep for Beijing.  Here are some pics for y’ all.

The bike path outside the hotel

Staging for the WC

Pure class-  Judith with her WC leader kit and custom WC leader paintjob team bike-

Swedish feedzone……

After a Herculian effort-  Erney Wilcock was done!  the only thing she could muster ” Man…. this car is hot” but continued to lay on top of it until we left for the hotel

Swedish Supa fans!

look closely at the stoker setup-  YEAH!  saw them riding it… WTF????

Notice the caravan number?  that’s right car 3!! based on Alex’s ranking in the World Cup Series…. Nice

Mooch and her massive box

The day after the WC.  IT was time to pack up and head back to Germany.  The girls flew out of Sweden.  I dropped Karen off in Gedser Denmark and Avery and I caravaned down to Erfurt Germany.  16.5 hours later (german construction)  we arrived at our Hotel in Leipzig.  I ate a French hotdog on the Ferry and that would be all until Newark NJ some 28 hours later.  I nearly ate my arm.  Luthansa just came off strike and there was NO food on the Plane at all!!!  Future note-  Eat before getting on the plane no matter what-  Transatlantic flights are brutal when your stomach is eating itself!!!  I survived and I am now in the OC in California for US Elite Nationals……  Same dogs and Ponies new show…

More to come soon.  My host’s Mark and Lisette have WIFI and the best Garage I have ever seen.  Stay tuned.

Iam out like Doogie Houser….
